James Lewis is a Bristol born graduate of Computer Animation Design. From a very early age James had a love of drawing and experimented with stop motion. A family friend working at Aardman snuck him into the studio where he gazed at what would ultimately become Wallace and Gromit’s A Close Shave. It was at this point that James knew what he wanted to do.

A few months later and Toy Story was released. Stop motion was still close to James’s heart but this new world of animation fascinated him. Studying the A levels most suited to animation he acquired photography, life drawing and graphic design skills. Finally in 2006 he could move onto pursue a degree in Animation Design at De Montfort University.

James’s first animated short Magboy was a collaborative piece with a friend which was well received by its public. After 3 years of computer animation training in Maya James attained experience in all areas of animation production and design. In 2009, at 21, he graduated with a 2:1 BA Honours Degree and began work on his portfolio. He attained work as a freelance 3D animator in the Northampton based animation studio RJDM which gave him valuable experience in the industry, exposing him to the realities of professional animation.

Driven by a passion for animation and a childlike fascination with the worlds it can create, James is determined to pursue a career in the industry.
